Reflection: The survey shows that content has become the main focus for companies who are now putting 82% of their marketing attention to this type of marketing; behind that is TV and Radios, events, and search engine marketing (article).
"So what exactly is content marketing? It's the creation and publication of original content -- including blog posts, case studies, white papers, videos and photos -- for the purpose of generating leads, enhancing a brand's visibility, and putting the company's subject matter expertise on display." (Article)
I strongly agree that this type of marketing will enhance a company's message and believe that there must be a reason why 400 marketing firms came out with such high numbers. With so many people cruising around on the internet, as a user, it is nice to see a website with videos that have a bit of human touch to explain the product.
An example of this type of content is Google. They used a video to explain the nature of the ads that popped up on the side of your email screen. Didn't you ever notice a similarity with the ads and your email message? Google explained everything through a video and said that it was just a machine taking out the data; kind of like spell check would do. They added human touch, to a machine that was making people skeptical.
Adding this touch, along with other good, original, general content is how business marketing should be. I think so many companies do it for a reason, it's not just a bunch a numbers. This type of marketing could be translated over to mido, we could explain the nature of our website and how a customer can benefit from it.
