  1. Just a thought, but could you guys potentially incorporate QR codes into your business model? It could be a very interesting way of differentiating yourself from Groupon and other deal sites. Also, are you guys simply partnering with other coupon sites or are you actually approaching businesses independantly?

  2. Should you not have a finalized website before getting a customer following. Or are you guys going to have a beta phase and then you customer feedback to finalize?

I think key retailers and partnering with coupon sites needs to be one of your first steps, especially before finalizing your website, what will be on your website if there are no retailers or coupons?

  3. @Matt starting up we are partnering with coupon sites. The reason for this is we want to make use of the over 150 deal sites present and really test the validity of our filtering system. It also makes it easier as we will focus more on getting customers and quickly validating our model. This in turn will make it easier when we start talking to retailers. They are facing numerous problems with deal sites and we could potentially solve them and having a customer base will be quite useful. The QR codes are definitely a good idea and we will look at ways of incorporating it. Thanks Matt

  4. @Christa We already have 11 deal sites ready to work with us. They have sent their api's and we have agreements in place with them. Some of them include dealfind, teambuy, buytopia, green coupons etc. Now in regards to the website yes we are starting off with a really basic MVP. It is only going to feature the filtering system and about 2 of the sites that are partnering with us. The reason for this is to test our assumptions quickly, measure, learn and iterate. We will be setting goals for each iteration we make and depending on the feedback a decision will be made. We don't expect to have a full version of the website with all the features we have in mind soon, but we sure will have mini versions with continuous improvements.

Now in regards to the retailers, we have decided not to approach any retailers for our first year, the reasons for this include; we want to make use of the existing coupon sites out there and just organize them for the user who simply can't keep up, (2)talking to retailers now will stretch us thin as not only do we have to worry about getting customers , getting retailers, the threat of competitors will be big. However by partnering up with them, we reduce the treat of our competitors and they are more benefits to the end user. Which leads to the last reason, we believe we can get customers faster using this strategy. This will put us in a good position once we start talking to retailers. Its all about the end users and this is a big reason why groupon is successful due to the large database of customers. Thanks Christa for your insightful comments, hope I answered all of your questions.
