Twitter Summary: How realistic is a truly Personalized social search?
With all the social media sites that people use these days, people are getting more and more worried about how private their information really is and how that information is being used.
Many companies and websites try to use information like age, sex, preferences and other demographics to determine how to targeting their marketing. However Mark Johnson, CEO of Zite a 17 billion dollar search company says that 100% individual focused marketing is a few years away. He argues that if every person got a personal experience the process would be too intense and cost way too much to justify the results.
While it is a huge cost now, that won’t last forever. Technology in general is notorious for lowering costs with time, and this is no different. Once technology advances it’ll only be a matter of time when your facebook, google +, twitter and any other social media sites you use are determining what ad’s and search preferences you get.
