Netflix...

Twitter Summary: Netflix looses over 800,000 customers as they hike prices, but show domination in bandwidth streaming.

Thirty-two percent of bandwidth during peak times in North America is dominated by Netflix. Following Netflix is HTTP, YouTube, and Bittorrent. I don't know much about bandwidth streaming but I know that Netflix is controlling the online usage of everyday consumers. It is also interesting to know that most consumers are watching the videos on devices other than desktop or laptop computers. Most of the streaming is done through personal devices, gaming consoles, or smart TV's.

Along with controlling the bandwidth, Netflix had entered 50 different countries and counting. They are growing very rapidly and will only get bigger before they loose more customers. I am a current Netflix user and am fairly happy with there service. I think the price is right at $8/month and I don't think I would accept their offer if it was any higher than that. I also do most of my streaming through my laptop or game consol. Personally, I think there videos are EXTREMELY outdated, but there TV shows are better and they got some new releases once in a while. I also think there library search system is off.

I just recently heard of a company that is starting in a similar way that Netflix did. They are renting video games through an online platform. I'm not quite sure how it will work but I'm curious to see their progress and how they will match up to Netflix in the future.
