Business Model Canvas

MIDO'S BMC

Key Partners:

  • coupon sites (groupon, etc.)
  • retailers who are offering their services
  • wholesalers (sell things as wholesale price)

Key Activities:

  • distribution channels: website, facebook, mobile phone apps, etc.
  • personal profile so that the coupons are specified to your wants (filtering system)

Value Proposition:

  • giving people things they want at a discounted price

Customer Relations:

  • by filling out the profile preference survey, people feel like you are customizing the coupons for their specific needs
  • we give our customers consistent deals to their needs, and pay attention to their feedback
  • **potential to offer incentive for filling out feedback surveys (ex 10% off extra)**

Customers:

  • general market for now

Costs:

  • servers
  • marketing (HUGE cost)

Key Resource:

  • personal profiling
  • bunch of different sites collaborated into one site

Channels:

  • social media
  • technology

Revenue:

  • revenue stream: 30% deal sites, percentage of revenue divided among other distribution channels

Alternatives:

  1. Wholesalers (Key Partners)

We would go and talk to whole-salers and people would have access to whole-sale prices. If we had enough people together who collectively wanted the same item, then we could order 50 items from the wholesaler. This means one shipping cost.

  1. Green Community (Customers)

You would be able to access a site that filters coupons that are specifically for health conscious people who have an interest in making ethical or local purchases that are eco-friendly.

Rather than these alternatives, we chose Mido because it is unique and offers people a service that has not before been offered to the public.

  1. You guys may want to focus on your customers a little. Maybe focusing on people who don't have the time to sort through all of the different coupons. I am also scared that this is a "fad" that wouldn't last for long enough for you to get it to market.

Personally a feature I would like to see is a way for you guys to unsubscribe me from all of the other coupon sites that I already belong too.

  2. We agree with you on that. Coupon sites are popping up everywhere and it is headache to keep track of them.Good feature you brought up One of the things we are working on is to enable users who subscribe to our site will be able to unsubscribe from different coupon sites. Now in regards to the fad, that is true and the reason coupon sites are failing is that they failed to create a win win situation for both retailers and consumers; hence the reason we are thinking of going niche(ethical products). We don't plan on simply being a coupon company, there are many features we currently have but we plan on keeping it lean for now. These features will be added incrementally as we work on the site. Thanks for your feedback and we will keep you updated.Hopefully we will solve your coupon overload and get you excited about them again.

  3. What are some examples of the features? Locally grown is one thing I feel you are trying to achieve. There is a large wave of people wanting to buy local, you could partner with organizations such as farmers markets or local breweries maybe offering specific offers or early bird access.

Creating a win win situation that is engaging will be a challenge to stand the test of time, I am excited to see what you guys have come up with.
