Demand Creation

1. Acquisition:
As a company, this is one of the most important parts of our start-up. Within the first month of launch we will be able to tell if this idea is viable and sustainable or if there isn't a market for us. To acquire our initial customers we will be implementing an online marketing strategy. We will be taking advantage of our youth and tech-savvy and acquire customers by using social-media. The sheer database of people that use social-media such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Blogger etc, will give us a huge selection of consumers. This is not only a cost effective way of marketing, but it will also be a great way for us to build our database, maintain our connection with registered users, and also brand ourselves as a company.

Other sources of acquisition will be actually going out to communities, retailers, and events that we feel fit the mould of people we are trying to target and let them hear about what we're doing in person, and get feed-back and reaction from them on the spot. We also want our website to be the first thing that pops up when you look up anything to do with ethical products. To do this we will utilize SEO (Search-Engine Optimization).

2. Activation:

3. Retention:
This is what is going to determine if we succeed or fail. In order to retain our customers we are going to do two things;1) provide exceptional products and features,2 provide exceptional customer service to both our suppliers and end users. Talking about providing great features and products, we plan on rolling out limited features to start off. Every year or so we will upgrade our current interface with newer features and better designs. We will work in collaboration with our end users, we will provide a feedback button to enable end users to provide us with a feedback and finally we will work extremely hard to come up with new innovative features/products every year. We believe in doing more with less; thus the reason why we will come up with few key features or upgrades to our product.
Customer service is the other core of mido; in regards to this we are simply not just talking about the end user but our suppliers(retailers, wholesalers, coupon sites) and employees. We are currently working on a little book called the mido way. It will essentially contain 10 key things we believe in to provide exceptional customer service. Now don't get this wrong we will also allow each mido partner to be themselves when engaging with an end user. We will be releasing more details soon.
4. Referral:
Our end users will have numerous opportunities to refer mido. It will be integrated with any social network, we will have a news feed, it will be easy for end users to share . We will also provide incentives for users to share with their friend. We will be adding more as we move on.
5. Revenue:
This is an area where we need to strengthen and create many streams that will flow through our website. So far, we know that our main stream of revenue is through retailers, capturing 20-30% of the coupon value. We want to beyond that and generate more revenue in these other potential streams.
  • Advertising
  • Loyalty Programs
  • Memberships
  • Calgary bases retailers
Our company is going to live or die based on the strength of our customers. Generating a strong following will be the first step and learning how to make money off that customer base will be the next. Our goal is to pull retailers to mido because of the community we've created. From there we can evaluate different revenue streams and start to pull in cash through our key partners and the customers themselves.

  1. just to add to your customer acquisition plan. You are all students at mru and you probably know people that go to a ton of different schools. Also many teachers at these schools are willing to help any student out. making small presentations one or two minutes in some random classes would really get your website heard about and talked about. also leaving flyers and business cards and promo code cards on the tables in the gathering areas is easy, time efficient etc. also maybe going into random empty classes and writing on the boards a little add such as " MIDO.....check it out, sick website" or other clever advertising this could stir up questions about ur venture. just some ideas for you guys
