Have you ever walked through the mall to get to your car after a movie when the mall is closed? Or got there early and no stores were open? This has happened to me before and as I'm walking there are always numerous attractive shop window displays that catch my eye. I wonder often what that would look like on a person, or what it would look like from the back, or in different colours....but the store isn't open so I can't answer any of these questions. German researchers have identified a solution to this pain point. They have created the electronic window shopper that uses Kinect-like technology that picks up on the shoppers gestures to show them what an item would look like just by pointing at it and then choosing options on the machine.

I share this with the class because I think it is important to realize that technology can be an important tool to solve our common pain points. We are able to use technology to provide customers with a way of window shopping that is new and innovative...I think if I was behind all this I would make an option for people to put items on hold as well to come back when the store opens. This electronic window shopper a genius innovation that will generate return customers hopefully!
