This week has been a very interesting week and there have been a few challenges in our venture. We are currently struggling between going niche(focusing on just ethical deals/coupons) or going general. After going out and testing our hypothesis my we got mixed feedback. The negative feedback was the fact that current sites offered the opportunity to discover new things in town, how would we segment the ethical market, there are already deals offered on things like yoga, ethical products are expensive and they are hardly any deals/coupons offered for them, other companies are beginning to look at this problem, it would not be hard for other companies to simply copy our idea whats that unique thing they cannot copy. For positives, we are solving deal overload, we are providing deals that people actually use, going niche gives us the chance to truly form a community, our site can educate a lot of people, making deals personalized etc. Considering all these I firmly believe consumers at most times don't have a strong idea on a product until they see and use it. Based on this we are working around the clock to get a minimally working prototype and testing it out with our users.

It's exciting to hear that you are going to have a functional prototype website up soon. Make sure you post a link! I would challenge your team to create heavy barriers of entry. I can see the personalized option being adopted very easily with groupon, who already has millions or users. What is going to make you compete with such a huge company that has essentially created this new coupon marketing strategy?
