Infobit #4 – Robots controlling humans?

Article: http://www.fastcodesign.com/1665618/no-joke-a-robot-that-controls-your-limbs-instead-of-vice-versa-video

Twitter Summary: Researchers develop a robot that can control a human arm

By sending out electrodes the prototype of this “robot that controls humans” can control whether or not you open or close your hand. By using Artificial Intelligence it read’s a basic situation and adjusts accordingly.

The video example shows a human with a toy basketball and the robot holding a toy net. When the human moves the basketball the robot changes the angle of the net to follow what the human is doing with the basketball. Once the basketball is right on top of the net the electrodes are sent and you release the ball.

Functionally its in such an infantile stage however the possibilities are endless. To me this is a step in the right direction if used to help people with long-term disabilities such as paralysis or things of that nature. However knowing our society this technology could be used as a way to make lazy people do even less.
