The first meeting turned out to be a success! The whole team was dressed very professional in ties and suits and one of us in a skirt (guess who?). Our advisors took our meeting seriously and gave insightful advice as well as quite a few critical questions that left us pondering and contemplating. My advisor was my Dad, also the owner of Smart Home Systems. Coleton’s advisor couldn’t make it and neither could Adrian’s to this meeting. Peter’s advisor was Patrick Lor, who we all should know by now! Both of the present advisors were extremely helpful and shot a few holes in our project to say the least. I think we needed to be shot down a bit at this stage though because it made us feel the true intensity of how much work we had to do and how many wrinkles we had to smooth out- especially whether or not to stay in a niche market or to go to a general, larger market. That was the biggest question our advisors had and they did not agree that niche would be the smartest market to tackle. Pat Lor brought up the solid point of how we would constantly acquire customers and if we could sustain the acquisition over time.
This was a productive week and I spent a lot of time with my team between our classes, our weekly group meeting, and our advisor meeting.
